End-of-Service Calculator — Oman
Your estimated end-of-service benefit
The statutory cap applies to this amount.
Are you an Omani national? Article 61 obliges the employer to pay this gratuity to a worker who does NOT benefit from the Social Protection Law. Omani nationals do benefit from it — you accrue with the Social Protection Fund instead — so the figure above is for non-Omani workers and the employer owes you no lump sum. This estimate assumes an expatriate employee.

One question before we hand you over — is this for you, or for people you employ?
Then the figure above is yours to keep — you don't need us in the middle. Take it with you, and read the rule it comes from so you can hold your ground on it.
Got it — we'll call you on that number. If it's easier, message us on WhatsApp instead.

Page 1 is the estimate you already have. Paying adds two more pages:

- Both statutory outcomes
- Why a real settlement can differ
- Ask for these in writing
- 3
- The statute
- The same job, longer
- What changes this figure
Including questions like:
- The exact monthly figure used as the calculation base, and whether it is basic or full wage.
- Your recorded start date and last working day.
…and 4 more, each one a fact your employer already holds.

How the Oman calculation works
- Enter your monthly salary — for this country that means your monthly basic salary (allowances excluded).
- Enter your employment start date — Oman's rules changed on 31 July 2023, so the split between old and new rules depends on your actual dates.
- Choose how the employment ends — resignation can reduce the entitlement in some countries.
- Read your estimate with its legal basis, and talk to us on WhatsApp if you want it checked.
The law: Oman Labour Law (Royal Decree No. 53/2023)
- Requires at least 1 year of continuous service
- From 31 July 2023: 1 month's wage per year, for all years
- Service before 31 July 2023: 15 days' wage/year (years 1–3), then 30 days/year
- Partial years are calculated proportionally
- Full gratuity on both resignation and termination (no reduction)
How the Oman entitlement builds up
End-of-service accrues in bands: each year of service earns a fixed slice of wage, and the slice changes once you pass the statutory boundary. These are the Oman Labour Law (Royal Decree No. 53/2023) figures the calculator above uses.
| Years of service | Accrues per year |
|---|---|
| Every year of service | One month's wage |
| After 10 years of service | 10 months' wage |
There is no cap: a long career keeps accruing at the same per-year rate, so a 30-year employee's award is well above a 10-year one's.
This table values every year at the current rate. Oman treats service before its statutory cutoff differently, so ten years worked earlier can total less than the row above — the calculator uses your actual dates.
At least 1 year of continuous service is required before anything is owed.
Resigning vs being terminated in Oman
This is the difference most people are actually searching for, and it is the input the calculator will not let you skip.
In Oman it makes no difference to the amount. A resignation and an employer termination pay the identical award; the reductions that exist in some GCC markets have no equivalent here. What can still remove the award is dismissal on a statutory ground, which is a separate question from how the employment ended.
Oman: what changes the answer
Oman is the reason this page asks for a start date instead of years of service. Royal Decree 53/2023 took effect on 31 July 2023 and moved the accrual to a flat one month a year; service performed BEFORE that date keeps the old tiers — 15 days a year for the first three seniority years, then 30. Two people with identical total service therefore get different figures depending on when they were hired, which a years-of-service box cannot express.
What this estimate does not include
End-of-service is one line on a final settlement, not the whole of it. Three things are owed separately and are not in the figure above:
- Accrued but untaken annual leave, paid out at the rate your leave entitlement is calculated on.
- Notice pay, or pay in lieu of notice where the notice period was not worked.
- Any contractual enhancement above the statutory floor. The law sets a minimum; a contract or a company policy can promise more, and where it does, the higher figure is what is owed.
Worked example
For an employee hired 1 January 2016 who leaves 1 January 2026 — 10 years of service on a OMR 1,000.000/month salary, terminated by the employer — the end-of-service benefit is OMR 8,500.000. In Oman the dates matter, not just the total: service before and after the statutory cutoff is valued differently, so a different ten years gives a different answer.
Frequently asked questions
How is end-of-service calculated in Oman?
For an employee hired 1 January 2016 who leaves 1 January 2026 — 10 years of service on a OMR 1,000.000/month salary, terminated by the employer — the end-of-service benefit is OMR 8,500.000. What is the formula for end-of-service in Oman?
Calculated per Oman Labour Law (Royal Decree No. 53/2023, Art. 61). Since 31 July 2023, base gratuity = 1 month's basic wage for each year of service (all years). Service performed before that date keeps the old tiers (15 days' wage per year for the first 3 years, then 30 days' wage per year). Requires at least 1 year of continuous service; no reduction on resignation.
What happens to my gratuity if I resign in Oman?
Requires at least 1 year of continuous service · From 31 July 2023: 1 month's wage per year, for all years · Service before 31 July 2023: 15 days' wage/year (years 1–3), then 30 days/year · Partial years are calculated proportionally · Full gratuity on both resignation and termination (no reduction)
Is my salary stored when I use this calculator?
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser using the same statutory engine that powers AhlanHamad payroll — your salary is never transmitted or stored.
