AhlanHamad × Microsoft Teams
Approvers decide leave requests and expense claims from a card in their Teams chat, and anyone can ask the AhlanHamad bot for their leave balance.

- Where it stands
- Built, and tested only with simulated Microsoft calls. It hasn't run in a real Teams tenant yet.
- What you need
- Microsoft Teams, your Teams admin deploying the AhlanHamad app across your organisation, and a company admin in AhlanHamad to link your tenant.
What it does
- Approve or reject from Teams: the current approver of a leave request, and the people who approve expenses, get a card in their personal chat with Approve, Reject and a reason box. A reason is required to reject an expense.
- Cards keep up: once a request is decided anywhere, withdrawn or moved on, the card is replaced with the outcome and who decided.
- Personal chat commands: balance, approvals and help.
- Daily who's-away post in a team channel, at an hour you choose: names only, never the leave type. Birthdays and work anniversaries are optional.
- Arabic or English: cards follow each person's Teams or app language, and Arabic cards read right to left.
- Every click is checked: a token tied to that request and approver, and the member's link to their employee record. A request is decided once, and the decision is in the audit log.
How it works
- A company admin creates a one-time connect code in AhlanHamad, and someone in your Microsoft tenant sends it to the AhlanHamad bot.
- People are linked to employees automatically when their work email is on a domain you confirm. An admin can link or turn off anyone.
- Approvers start getting cards in Teams. Turn on the daily post by mentioning the bot with digest here in a channel.
What it doesn't do
- No leave requests or clocking in from Teams.
- It doesn't read your Microsoft directory: it sees only the members of teams the app is installed in.
- Expense claims don't follow an approval chain in Teams: every linked expense approver is asked, and the first decision counts.
- Approvers get cards only once the app is installed for them.
Questions
Does it need Microsoft Graph permissions?
No. It talks to Teams through the bot only, and reads nothing beyond the members of the teams it is installed in.
Can an approver override HR from Teams?
No. A Teams click runs the same leave or expense decision as the web app, as that approver, at the manager step only.
When will it be available?
There is no date yet. Book a short call and tell us you use Microsoft Teams, and we'll let you know when it opens.
